FEATURED INGREDIENTS

Botanical ingredients are rich with skin-revitalizing bioactive compounds. It was with this knowledge that Introstem formulated its products with a precise blend of nature and science. Star ingredients grape stem cell extract and hemp seed oil are only the beginning. Introstem uses powerful peptides, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and humectants to give skin a renewed luminescence and vitality.

Hemp seed oil

Hemp Seed Oil:

Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, more commonly referred to as hemp seed oil, is extracted from male cannabis plant seeds. Unlike flowering female cannabis plants, male cannabis plants do not produce the psychoactive compound, THC. Instead, hemp seed oil is rich in nutritive bioactive compounds. Considered a superfood, hemp seed oil contains as much omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids as fish oil. It also contains important minerals such as potassium and magnesium as well vitamins A and E. Incredibly moisturizing and yet non comedogenic, hemp seed oil is suitable for nearly all skin types. It helps to soothe inflammation and calm irritation, offers antioxidant protection and leaves skin feeling soft and supple.

Grape Stem Cell Extract:

Also known as Vitis Vinifera Fruit Cell Extract, grape stem cells are extracted from both the peel and the seed of grapes. Being embryonic in nature, grape stem cells are able to transform themselves into human-identical cells when applied to the skin. This makes them especially effective at healing and regenerating the skin, as they can replicate adult skin cells. The peel and seeds of grapes are also known for being packed with phenolic compounds. These compounds have powerful antioxidant properties - in particular, proanthocyanidins are known for being 50 times more effective than vitamin E and 20 times more effective than vitamin C. These unique properties make grape stem cell extract the perfect ingredient for tackling damaged skin, as well as for minimizing the visible signs of aging.

Seaweed Extract

Seaweed Extract:

Not only is seaweed a fantastic superfood for the body, but when applied topically it is also able to significantly boost skin health. There are thousands of different seaweed varieties, but the one used in Introstem skin care is known as Laminaria Japonica. This seaweed strain is primarily found in Japan, and is known for containing 72 trace minerals that the skin, as well as the body, needs in order to thrive. Seaweed is most commonly used in skin care for its hydrating and moisturizing properties, and Laminaria Japonica Extract is able to reduce moisture loss from the skin by 20% after just eight hours. Laminaria Japonica also contains a unique compound called fucoidan, which not only strengthens the immune system, but also prevents the development of certain types of cancer.

peptides and protein molecules

Peptides:

Peptides are protein fragments that are made up of amino acids. Different combinations of amino acids result in different peptides, and therefore different proteins. Peptides are important when it comes to the formation of proteins in the skin, and two of the most important ones are collagen and elastin. Both of these structural proteins give your skin its smoothness and firmness, but the production of both usually starts to decline once a person reaches their 20s. Applying peptides to your skin quickly amps up protein production, not only when it comes to collagen and elastin, but also keratin. This makes a significant difference when it comes to fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin, and peptides help to promote the skin’s fresh and youthful appearance. There are hundreds of different peptides out there, but Introstem only uses the most powerful, as well as the ones with the most scientific research behind them. The peptides that you will find in Introstem products include Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, and Palmitoyl Oligopeptide.

Green tea plant

Green Tea Extract:

Green tea extract is an ingredient that has been the focus of numerous studies over the years, each one proving that this botanical is one that can really make a dramatic difference to the health and appearance of your skin. Green tea is packed with polyphenols, and these have some extraordinary antioxidant properties, making green tea one of the best botanicals for minimizing the visible signs of aging. The flavonoids in green tea help to improve the immune response of your skin cells, enabling them to better protect themselves from environmental damage, while the catechins in the extract protect the skin from UV damage. Green tea extract also boasts anti-inflammatory properties, making it a fantastic skin-soother too.

Chitosan

Chitosan:

A completely natural and biodegradable ingredient, chitosan comes from chitin, which can be found in the shells of certain crustaceans. The molecular structure of chitosan closely mimics that of certain substances naturally found in human skin, such as hyaluronic acid. This means that the skin readily accepts this ingredient, putting it to use when it comes to moisturizing, conditioning and lubricating the skin. Another of chitosan's primary roles is that of an antioxidant. It offers up a stabilized form of vitamin C, providing similar antioxidant and skin-brightening benefits. Recent research on the ingredient has found that chitosan also has the ability to increase the skin's absorption of certain antioxidants, particularly catechins. Green tea, along with its extract, is one of the best sources of catechins available, which is why Introstem makes sure to combine both of these ingredients when formulating skin care products.

fruit, vegetables and products with vitamin A

Vitamin A:

One of the most potent anti-aging ingredients out there, vitamin A is an ingredient that should be used by everyone, no matter your skin type. It has the unique ability to communicate with damaged cells in the skin, healing their DNA and enabling those cells to properly function again. By increasing skin cell turnover and promoting the production of collagen in the skin, vitamin A can tackle everything from fine lines and wrinkles to dullness and hyperpigmentation. It is also a great ingredient for acne-prone skin, preventing the overproduction of sebum and therefore reducing breakouts. There are several vitamin A derivatives used in skin care, and Introstem tends to favor Retinyl Palmitate. This is a gentler and milder, but just as effective, form of the ingredient, and its small molecular size means that it is easily absorbed by the skin.

Featured Ingredients Vitamin C

Vitamin C:

Vitamin C is essential when it comes to collagen production, making this an ingredient to go for if you are looking to prevent or minimize fine lines and wrinkles. It is also loved for its brightening properties, due to the fact that it acts as a depigmenting agent. It prevents excess melanin production, allowing the skin's natural radiance to shine through. Thanks to its powerful antioxidant properties, vitamin C is able to neutralize free radicals in the skin, preventing them from causing damage to cells, tissues and DNA. If all of that was not enough, vitamin C also contains anti-inflammatory qualities, making it effective at soothing the skin and calming redness.

Avacado, grain and nuts

Vitamin E:

Vitamin E is key when it comes to healthy and happy skin. Found in the skin's sebum, cell membranes and lipids, the skin contains more vitamin E than any of the other nutrients, showing you just how important this vitamin is. It primarily functions as an antioxidant, protecting skin cells from damage while helping to heal existing damage. It is a great ingredient to use when preventing UV damage, as vitamin E is able to absorb UVB rays. When combined with vitamin C, vitamin E can also prevent skin burning, helping to improve the way in which a traditional sunscreen works. Since the amount of vitamin E produced by your skin rapidly declines with age, applying this ingredient topically is a great way to keep your skin's vitamin E supplies topped up.

Sodium

Sodium Hyaluronate:

Thanks to the way in which it absorbs moisture from the air and is able to hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, hyaluronic acid is a popular ingredient in skin care. However, this humectant features quite a large molecular size, meaning that the skin cannot properly absorb it. This is why Introstem makes use of sodium hyaluronate instead. This form of hyaluronic acid has the same hydrating and moisturizing benefits as the original, but is small enough for the skin to easily absorb and distribute to its deepest layers. Providing your skin with sodium hyaluronate will also help to encourage the production of collagen, therefore minimizing the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles. Due to its skin cell-plumping and complexion-smoothing benefits of this ingredient, sodium hyaluronate is considered to be quite the superstar when it comes to anti-aging skin care formulas.

ginko tree leaves

Ginkgo Biloba Extract:

Extracted from the leaves of the Asian ginkgo tree, Ginkgo Biloba Extract has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. This botanical is packed with specific flavonoids and terpenoids, all of which are known for their powerful antioxidant properties. By protecting skin cells, along with their DNA, from oxidative stress and damage, ginkgo has the ability to extend the lifespan of skin cells, resulting in a brighter and fresher complexion. The way in which ginkgo encourages skin cell turnover makes this an ingredient that can help with acne too. By increasing the rate at which the skin naturally sheds its dead skin cells, clogged pores become less of a problem, minimizing your chances of experiencing a breakout.
