Your Ultimate Nighttime Skincare Routine for Glowing Skin

While morning skincare is important, your nighttime skincare routine is much more influential when it comes to how healthy your skin looks and feels overall. Skin barrier function declines in the evenings, making it easier for your skincare products to penetrate your skin. Cell regeneration also speeds up overnight – support this process with the right ingredients and products and you’l be able to achieve a radiant glow so much faster.

So, what should your nighttime skincare routine consist of? Here’s what Introstem would recommend:

Step 1: Cleanse…and Then Cleanse Again

Stem Cell Mousse Cleanser

While it’s great news that your skin will be more receptive to your skincare products at night, this only applies if your skin is clean. Fail to cleanse it properly and the layer of grime that has built up on its surface over the course of the day will block your skincare products from reaching your skin cells.

While a single cleanse is usually sufficient, double cleansing can sometimes provide even more of a glow. This involves first cleansing your skin with an oil-based cleanser. Since oil attracts oil, this will remove the oil-based impurities from your skin. The next cleanse should be done with a water-based cleanser, like the Introstem Stem Cell Mousse Cleanser. This will clear away any water-based impurities, as well as any residue left behind from your first cleanse.

By giving your skin such a thorough cleanse, you’ll be clearing an easy path for the rest of your skincare products to take. This will encourage absorption, giving you better results from your skincare routine.

Step 2: Exfoliate

VitisCell Fresh Revive Peeling

Now that your skin has been cleansed, it’s time to move in with an exfoliator. This will tackle deeper impurities that your cleanser wouldn’t have been able to reach. Again, exfoliating isn’t something that you need to be doing every night. Instead, keep your skin type in mind when deciding how often to exfoliate. For example, oily skin may need to be exfoliated 2-3 times a week. Meanwhile, dry skin will likely only need to be exfoliated once a week. Sensitive skin usually requires even less than this.

Of course, the exfoliator that you use will make a huge difference to the results that you see too. You need one that’s going to be strong enough to get the job done well, yet not so harsh that it leaves your skin inflamed or irritated.

For this, we’d recommend trying the Introstem VitisCell Fresh Revive Peeling. With this formula, you won’t need to choose between a chemical or mechanical exfoliant as it offers both. Thanks to a blend of mandelic acid, bamboo powder, and walnut shell powder, it’s extremely efficient at exfoliating. However, it doesn’t contain any overly potent exfoliants that could potentially damage your skin. Even better, with the inclusion of vitamins and other antioxidants, you’re guaranteed a gorgeous glow!

Step 3: Mask Up

Stem Cell Rejuvenation Mask

If you’re in a hurry to get to bed (after all, you shouldn’t deprive your skin of that important beauty sleep!), then you may want to skip this set. However, if you have 10-15 minutes to spare, adding a mask to your nighttime skincare routine can be extremely beneficial.

The key is to choose a mask that’s geared toward keeping your skin supported while you sleep. The Introstem Stem Cell Rejuvenation Facial & Eye Mask does this well. It’s a super-hydrating sheet mask that will give your skin a huge moisture boost. This is exactly what it needs at night when moisture loss increases. Pair this mask with the Stem Cell Revitalizing Chest & Neck Mask and you’ll be able to pamper your décolletage too!

If you’d like to focus on refreshing and brightening the look of your skin, as opposed to hydration, you may prefer the Introstem ThermoStem Mask. Although it contains hydrating ingredients too, its main goal is to remove excess sebum, purify the complexion, and increase the skin’s antioxidant content. It has a self-heating effect too, making it feel even more indulgent!

Step 4: Tone

VitisCell Hydra Fresh Toner

It’s easy to underestimate the importance of a toner. These products look quite watery and lightweight, making it difficult to appreciate the effect that they can have on your skin. However, this effect is pretty profound! Not only does a good toner rebalance the pH level on your skin’s surface, which then leaves your skin feeling more receptive to and accepting of the other products you apply, but it will also provide the skin with additional benefits that can be very useful after cleansing/exfoliating/masking.

Take the Introstem VitisCell Hydra Fresh Toner, for example. Thanks to aloe vera leaf juice and hemp seed oil, it’s extremely hydrating. It will help to restore any moisture that was lost during the cleansing and exfoliating process. Those same ingredients are also known for soothing the feeling of inflammation. Cucumber fruit extract and chamomile extract help with this. All of those ingredients are full of antioxidants too. Grape stem cells, which can also be found in this formula, are also revered for their antioxidant properties.

The best way to apply a toner is to dispense some onto a cotton pad. Then, gently swipe this all over your face. Ideally, do this while your skin is still damp from the previous stage of your skincare routine. This will help your toner to lock in even more moisture.

Step 5: Antioxidant Power

VitisCell Brightening Vita-C Serum

It’s now time to treat your skin to some antioxidants. These powerful compounds repair the appearance of free radical damage. Everything from wrinkles and sagging skin to dark spots and discoloration can be attributed to free radicals, hence how antioxidants can be such game-changers!

The best way to lavish your skin with antioxidants is with a serum. The Introstem VitisCell Brightening Vita-C Serum is one that won’t disappoint. You’re probably aware of how vitamin C is famous for being one of the best skincare antioxidants around, and this formula contains two forms of the ingredient. As with all antioxidants, vitamin C works best when it’s combined with other antioxidants, which this serum does beautifully. With grape stem cells, vitamin A, and vitamin E, it ensures a rounded blend of the most influential antioxidants out there.

If you already have a vitamin C serum but would like to broaden your skin’s antioxidant exposure, the Lumi-Cell Silk Serum from the Introstem Lumi-Cell Collection would be another good choice. This one contains several antioxidant-rich plant extracts, including jasmine, ginkgo, and lavender. Like all Introstem products, it’s also infused with grape stem cells.

Step 6: Hydrate

ThermoStem Serum

We’ve already discussed how moisture loss increases overnight. This is exactly why adding a hydrating face mask and a hydrating toner to your nighttime skincare routine can be so beneficial.

However, this is often not enough. In order to optimize skin hydration at night, it’s best to hydrate in layers. This is why the next step of your routine should be to apply a hydrating serum.

At Introstem, we have a few for you to choose from, starting with the ThermoStem Serum. If you’ve done some research into the most hydrating ingredients available, you’ll recognize a few of the names on this ingredient list. Sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, and peptides can all be found near the top of the ingredient list, indicating this serum’s hydrating capabilities.

The String Lift Sculpting System is also exceptionally hydrating. This one harnesses the power of six different forms of hyaluronic acid. This gives it the ability to immediately plump up the look of the skin, leaving it with a dewy and supple finish.

Step 7: Eye Care

Luminous Firming Eye Serum

Your eye area will undoubtedly benefit from this entire skincare routine. However, the skin here can sometimes do with some extra care. It’s much thinner than the skin on the rest of the face, consisting of fewer layers. This is why it’s prone to some unique issues, such as dark circles and puffiness, that the rest of the face rarely experiences.

This is where eye care products can be helpful. Although they aren’t essential, picking eye care formulas that are able to target those eye-related visible skin concerns could help you to see results much sooner than if you were to rely on your facial skincare products alone.

The Introstem VitisCell Luminous Firming Eye Serum would be a good place to start. This formula is designed to tackle the look of puffiness and crow’s feet. With peptides, vitamins, and numerous complexion-brightening botanicals, it will quickly have your eye area looking smoother, tighter, and brighter.

The VitisCell Radiance Dark Circle Eye Cream would also be a good addition to your skincare routine if you often wake up with dark circles and shadows under your eyes. Apply this cream to your eye area before bed and your skin will look brighter and more sculpted in the morning.

Step 8: Moisturize

Flawless Finish Silk Capsules

The final step in your nighttime skincare routine should be to moisturize. While a regular moisturizer is better than nothing, your skin deserves the best, making it worth investing in a dedicated night cream. These formulas will be richer than daytime creams, which your skin needs at night. They’ll also contain ingredients that will keep your skin feeling strong and supported while you’re in slumberland.

If you don’t yet have a go-to night cream, check out the Introstem VitisCell Radiance Overnight Cream. Thanks to shea butter, it provides hydration while also locking that moisture in. At the same time, it’s also brimming with antioxidant-rich extracts that will have your skin looking rejuvenated come morning.

If you’d prefer a lighter formula, consider the Introstem Flawless Finish Silk Capsules. This encapsulated moisturizer is packed full of potent ingredients that will hydrate your skin while also providing an array of antioxidants.
